Porch Conversion

An old sinking porch with a shallow foundation was almost entirely rebuilt and converted into habitable, finished space. The roof was in fine shape and worth keeping so we propped it up during the rebuild and reframed up to it, but not before we took the opportunity to level it again. A new foundation was placed consisting of three custom concrete piers cast into square profiles to relate to the square edges of the main house foundation. A departure from the vinyl siding found on the main house, we opted for the warmer rough-sawn pine board and batten siding, finished only with boiled linseed oil, for a whole new look for the front face of the house.
